World Bank, CNN International recognize BAWB work in Nigeria
June 2008 - BAWB colleague Dr. Joseph Adelegan developed a sustainable solution for cleaning up Nigeria's cassava waste, a public health threat. The zero-emissions technology of a biogas plant will treat the cassava waste; the gas produced by breaking down organic waste of the cassava will drive micro turbines at a low cost and produce safe, reliable, off-grid lighting for over 2,000 poor families and create environmentally safe organic fertilizer for many low-income farmers in the region. Dr. Adelegan's project has received a $250,000 World Bank grant and has been featured in a documentary titled "Principal Voices. Economics of Energy", on June 21-22, 2008, on CNN International.  Read More.
