Since its inception, the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University has received international acclaim for developing bold ideas that redefine the way management education is taught. BAWB is building on this solid tradition through strategic work in the domain of management education reform, and tactical efforts such as training and seminars, curriculum design, and teaching resources development.
Recent endeavors include:
- The Principles of Responsible Management (PRME): Conceived and developed at the First Global Forum at Case Western Reserve University in 2006, the PRME calls for reform of management education. More than 130 business schools have signed onto the PRME, which was launched in July 2007 with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon. BAWB took part in the coordinating group and continues to support development of the principles.
- A pilot MBA course: Spanning the entire second year for MBA students, the course integrates the BAWB theme into all other areas of MBA studies. Hands-on experience in real-world company projects completes the comprehensive curriculum.
- Latin America reforms: BAWB convened and facilitated a program with 1,300 leaders from academia and other sectors in Latin America that launched the redesign of education in the region.
- Other ongoing educational efforts:
- The World Inquiry
- Developing curriculum for masters and doctorate programs
- Speaking and involvement in a range of conferences and networks
- Developing our website as a resource
- A quarterly newsletter to inspire practitioners and educators
